Road closed after tractor-trailer loses oversized load

No one was hurt when an oversized load rolled off the tractor-trailer that was hauling it north of Strathroy.

Middlesex OPP were called to the traffic incident on Elginfield Road between Fort Rose and New Ontario roads around 1 p.m. on Tuesday. A tractor-trailer lost the large farm item it had been moving while navigating around a bend in the road.

The item came to rest blocking one lane of the roadway.

There were no other vehicles involved in the incident and no injuries were reported, OPP said.

That section of Elginfield Road was closed for roughly four hours while crews worked to lift the item back onto the trailer. The road was reopened around 5 p.m.

The truck driver has been charged with having an insecure load, police said.
