London police are searching for a second vehicle they believe was involved in a collision that claimed the life of an elderly pedestrian late Sunday afternoon.
Emergency crews were called to Adelaide Street North near Glenora Drive in the north end of the city where a pedestrian was hit around 5:30 p.m.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. With the permission of the pedestrian's family, London police have identified the man as 83-year-old William Robinson of London.
A vehicle involved in the collision remained at the scene, police said. However, further investigation has led investigators to believe a second vehicle was involved. A description of that vehicle has not been provided.
Police are urging anyone who was in the area of Adelaide Street North and Glenora Drive around the time of the collision who may have dash-cam or surveillance video footage to call investigators at 519-661-5670 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
"Investigators are interested in reviewing video which may have captured the collision itself, and/or the events leading up to, or immediately thereafter," police said in a statement released on Monday.
The crash kept Adelaide between Glenora and Fanshawe Park Road East closed for roughly five hours while police investigated. The road was reopened around 10:30 p.m.
