'Massive' fire destroys building southwest of London

No one was hurt in what provincial police called a "massive" industrial shop fire southwest of London.

Firefighters and Middlesex OPP were called to the blaze at a construction business on Woodhull Road between Sharon Road and Westminster Drive around 2 p.m. on Monday.

"Multiple fire crews are on scene fighting the massive blaze," Middlesex OPP posted to X, the social media platform formally known as Twitter. They advised drivers the road was closed to allow fire crews to extinguish the flames. Woodhull Road was reopened hours later

The building and its contents were destroyed with damage estimated between $1 million and 1.2 million.

An investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing, said Middlesex Centre Fire Chief Colin Toth.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
