Report of teen with weapon prompts school lockdown

Students at a London elementary school were temporarily forced to stay inside after a teen with what was believed to be a weapon was spotted in the area.

London police were called to the area of Oxford Street West and Foster Avenue around 10:40 a.m. It was reported that the young person was "in possession of a weapon", but the type was not disclosed by police.

Nearby Eagle Heights Public School was placed in a lockdown as a precaution.

A number of officers searched the area and a teen boy matching the description of the suspect was stopped a short distance away.

No weapons were located, police said.

While the investigation is still ongoing, police have stressed that no threats were made and there is no risk to public safety.

The lockdown at Eagle Heights has since been lifted.
