St. Thomas police probing separate assaults

One person was hurt and a vehicle damaged in two separate assaults in St. Thomas on Wednesday.

St. Thomas police were called to a downtown address where two people had got into a verbal altercation that turned physical. Paramedics had to take one person to hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries.

No arrests have been made, but the investigation is ongoing, police said.

Then later the same day a reported disturbance brought officers to a home in the north end of the city.

Police determined two people, who were known to each other, got into an argument that turned physical. One vehicle was damaged during the fight.

A 39-year-old St. Thomas resident has been charged with one count each of assault and mischief. That individual has been released from police custody with a future court date.
