Malfunctioning ventilation fan sparks $100K townhouse fire

Fire has left a townhouse in north London with $100,000 damage.

Firefighters were called to the home at 1033 Huron Street, west of Highbury Avenue around 9 p.m. on Tuesday. Crews arrived on scene to find flames on the roof and in the attic of the two-storey home.

Crews deployed an offensive strategy for search, rescue and fire control, the London Fire Department said.

The blaze was extinguished relatively quickly.

No injuries were reported.

A malfunctioning bathroom ventilation fan is believed to have caused the blaze, the fire department said.
