Suspicious fire sends one to hospital

London police are investigating after one person had to be taken to hospital after what appears to have been an intentionally set fire.

Emergency crews were called to a home on Blackmaple Drive around 3:30 a.m. Thursday.

"An individual in the home extinguished the fire prior to emergency crews attending," police said in a media release. "A second individual was removed from the residence and transported to hospital by paramedic services with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries."

Investigators determined the fire was suspicious in nature. Damage is pegged at $5,000.
