Section of Colborne Street to be closed for one week

A section of Colborne Street near downtown London will be closed for the next week.

Crews are beginning what is described as "private work" Thursday on Colborne between Hill and South streets.

The closure will be in effect until next Thursday, according to the City of London.

While the work is completed, traffic will be detoured using Colborne Street, Hill Street, Maitland Street, and South Street.

"Cyclists are encouraged to use alternative routes when possible as the bike lanes in this section of Colborne Street may also be impacted due to the road closure," the city said in a statement.

As access to sidewalks may also be restricted throughout the work, pedestrians are encouraged to use nearby streets to get where they are going.

People needing to access properties in the area will still be able to do so.
