ETFO announces dates for ratification vote

Teachers represented by the Elementary Teachers Federation of Ontario will get to vote on their tentative deal starting on Monday, December 11.

The online vote will start at 9 a.m. after a telephone town hall meeting where members will learn more about the central agreement and wrap up at 8 p.m. on Friday, December 15.

President of the Greater Essex Local, Mario Spagnuolo, confirmed the dates on Friday morning.

ETFO reached a tentative deal with the province on November 21 with the help of a conciliator after 14 months of bargaining.

"This has been the longest round of central bargaining in ETFO's history," said President Karen Brown last month. "We remained focused on getting government cuts off the table and on addressing members' working conditions, which are students' learning conditions."
