14-year-old pedestrian killed in hit-and-run south of Tillsonburg

Provincial police are looking for the driver who fatally struck a 14-year-old pedestrian south of Tillsonburg and kept on going.

Emergency crews were called to the collision on Fairground Road in Cultus around 5:25 p.m. on Wednesday. Norfolk OPP officers determined that the teen was walking along the road when he was hit by a dark or grey-coloured pickup truck.

The driver did not stop at the scene.

The 14-year-old Norfolk County boy suffered life-threatening injuries. He was rushed to hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

The OPP crime unit and traffic incident management enforcement team are searching for the vehicle and driver involved. Investigators believe the vehicle will have noticeable damage on its front right corner.

Anyone who may have been travelling along Fairground Road between 5th Concession Road ENR and 6th Concession Road ENR between 5 p.m. and 5:30 p.m., as well as area residents, are asked to call police if they witnessed anything unusual or have video footage.

The collision kept a section of Fairground Road closed for several hours Wednesday night. It has since reopened.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
