Collision in Middlesex Centre leads to charges

A London man faces multiple charges after a Thursday morning crash in Middlesex Centre.

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were called shortly after 5:30 a.m. Thursday to Wonderland Road North and Ilderton Road, following a two-vehicle collision. One of the involved drivers was seen running away from the scene.

Following a search by the OPP's Emergency Services Team and a K-9 Unit, the suspect was found shortly after. It turned out that one of the vehicles involved in the crash was reported stolen from London.

The 43-year-old man is charged with possession of stolen property over $5,000, driving while prohibited, possession of a forged document, making a forged document, failure to remain at the scene of a crash, careless driving, and failure to comply with an order.

The suspect was held for bail, and the charges have not been proven in court.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
