No one hurt in London's latest homeless encampment fire

For the third time in a month, there has been a fire at a London homeless encampment.

Firefighters were called to the blaze on Watson Street near the Thames River after 1 p.m. on Wednesday.

The fire was extinguished without incident.

No injuries were reported, fire officials said.

The incident was similar to one that happened in a wooded area near Adelaide Street South and Royce Court on November 29. Fire crews arrived to find a fully involved fire at a large homeless encampment in that area. Just three days prior to that, firefighters were called to an encampment fire near the train tracks in the area of Wonderland Road and Castlegrove Boulevard. No one was hurt in either of those two fires.

The risk of fires at homeless encampments rises in the winter months, as those living in them rely on open flames in an attempt to stay warm.
