Suspected St. Thomas porch pirate arrested in London

A 28-year-old Londoner is facing charges after a person was caught on camera stealing packages from several St. Thomas homes last month.

St. Thomas police received multiple reports about thefts from front porches and door steps throughout the city on December 18.

Using doorbell cameras and residential surveillance, investigators determined the same individual was responsible for the package thefts and were able to identify a suspect.

Information about the suspect was then shared with neighbouring police services, including London police, whose officers made an arrest a few days later. The 28-year-old suspect was transferred to the custody of St. Thomas police and has since been charged with theft under $5,000.

The accused, whose name was not released, has been released from police custody with a future court date.
