London man charged in Friday robbery

London police say a 33-year-old man has been arrested following a robbery in the downtown area.

Investigators say it happened around 8:15 p.m. Friday at a business in the area of Richmond Street and Queens Avenue. A man entered the store, attempted to cover his face with a ski mask, and stole property.

A security guard approached the suspect, who threatened the guard with a knife before fleeing. No one was hurt.

The suspect was picked up a short distance away, and the stolen property was recovered.

The man has been charged with armed robbery and wearing a disguise with intent to commit an offence.

The charges have not been proven in court. The suspect will appear in a London court on Wednesday.
