The blaze happened on the second floor of a home on Mill Street just west of Richmond Street.
The flames were reported as under control just after 10 a.m.
Two people escaped from the fire and no injuries were reported.
Investigators are working to determine the cause, circumstances, and damage estimate of the fire.
People in southern Huron and Lambton counties are being told to limit their time outside.
