Fatal snowmobile crash in Norfolk County

A snowmobile collision has claimed a life east of Tillsonburg.

Just before 11 p.m. on Saturday, Norfolk County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) got a report of a crash on an Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Club (OFSC) trail. It occurred between Byerlay Side Road and 1st Concession Road in Middleton Township.

Emergency crews responded to the area and determined that three people were operating snow machines when the collision happened.

One driver was uninjured in the crash. A second driver was taken to hospital by Ornge Air.

The third person, a 44-year-old from Port Dover, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Byerlay Side Road was closed for several hours during the investigation but has since reopened.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
