London-native Ryan Gosling nominated for Oscar

London-native Ryan Gosling has been nominated for an Academy Award.

The nominations for the 96th Academy Awards were announced on Tuesday morning.

Gosling got the nod for best supporting actor for his role in Barbie. Gosling portrayed Ken in last summer's live-action, fantasy comedy that follows its title characters on a journey of self-discovery. It quickly became the highest-grossing film of 2023, bringing in $1.44 billion.

The nomination for his part in Barbie marks the third time Gosling has been nominated for an Oscar. He was previously nominated for his roles in Half Nelson in 2006 and La La Land in 2016.

This time around Gosling will be up against Sterling K. Brown, Robert de Niro, Robert Downey Jr., and Mark Ruffalo in the best supporting actor category.

The hardware is scheduled to be handed out on March 10. The show will be hosted by Jimmy Kimmel.
