Rail repairs closing section of Bathurst St. for four days

A new traffic snag will cause slowdowns for drivers east of the downtown this weekend and into next week.

Starting on Saturday, Bathurst Street between Maitland and William streets will be closed while CN Rail completes "necessary" repairs to the tracks in the area. The closure is expected to remain in place until Wednesday.

While the repairs are underway, vehicles will be detoured using Maitland Street, York Street, and William Street. Pedestrians are advised to use nearby streets to reach their destinations as there will also be sidewalk closures and restrictions.

Access to nearby properties, businesses, and homes will be maintained during the work, according to city officials.

As always, the city is recommending drivers who rely on this area to get to their destination to plan ahead using navigation apps such as Waze or Google Maps.
