Imitation gun pointed at student's head at Aylmer school

A young person in Aylmer is facing serious charges after an imitation gun was pointed at another student's head at a school in the Elgin County town.

Aylmer police were called to the unnamed school following the incident on January 17. It was alleged that a student approached another student and pointed a firearm at their head. The weapon turned out to be an imitation firearm.

Police investigated and last Wednesday arrested a youth in relation to the incident. That individual, who cannot be named due to their age, is charged with assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

"In compliance with the Youth Criminal Justice Act, the name of the school and other identifying information will not be released," police said.

The accused has been released from custody with conditions and is scheduled to appear in St. Thomas court next month.
