Disturbance leads to drug, assault charges

A 44-year-old St. Thomas resident is facing multiple charges after police were called to a home in the city's south end.

Police said that they responded to an emergency call about a disturbance on Monday.

Officers found an individual suffering from several injuries when they arrived at the scene. It's believed the injuries happened because of an assault. EMS were called to treat the victim and transport them to hospital.

"The accused was called out of the residence by police with their tasers drawn," a release from St. Thomas police said. "The accused was ordered to the ground by police but actively resisted arrest as police gained physical control."

During a post-arrest search, police said they seized approximately 7 grams of cocaine.

The 44-year-old has been charged with resisting a peace officer, assault causing bodily harm, and one count of drug possession.
