Phase 2 of construction for the Fanshawe Park Road and Richmond Street Intersection Improvements project will begin on Monday.
There will be lane restrictions on Fanshawe Park Road between both ends of North Centre Road until the fall of 2024. The city plans to add additional through lanes on Fanshawe, new concrete sidewalks, upgrade underground infrastructure, and enhance in-boulevard bike paths.
The first phase saw additional left-turn lanes installed along Richmond, a new centre median, sidewalks, in-boulevard asphalt bike paths, and upgrades to street lighting and traffic signals. Construction lasted from June to December.
Drivers and cyclists are advised to expect delays in the area and to use alternate routes where possible. The city suggests using apps such as Waze or Google Maps, signs will also be put up to help navigate around the construction zone.
Some LTC stops along Fanshawe Park Road may be impacted during construction and transit riders are advised to visit the LTC website.
Pedestrian access will be maintained on at least one side of the road during the construction as will access to Masonville Mall and all other businesses and residential areas.
