No safety concern after threat made against Strathroy high school

Students at Strathroy District Collegiate Institute will be back in the classroom a day after many were shaken by a threat made against the school.

Strathroy-Caradoc police were called about the potential threat at the Second Street high school on Monday.

After a thorough investigation and speaking with students and staff, investigators determined there was no concern for the safety of those at the school. However, to calm any lingering fears, there will be more officers stationed around the school on Tuesday.

"The Strathroy-Caradoc Police Service will be increasing their presence around the school [Tuesday] to ensure everyone feels safe," police said in a statement.

No specifics about the threat that was made have been released.

The Thames Valley District School Board sent an email to parents and caregivers of students to reassure them every precaution is being taken to keep those at the school safe.

"Student and staff safety is our number one priority, and we work in close partnership with out local police department," the board said.
