A 31-year-old man already facing charges for assaulting two St. Thomas police officers is now accused of attacking a court officer.
Police were attempting to arrest a man wanted on outstanding warrants on Wednesday when he reportedly became combative with two officers after trying to run away.
The two officers were assaulted, but were able to take the man into custody.
He was charged with assaulting peace officers and resisting arrest. While appearing in court in relation to those charges and the outstanding warrants, the man is alleged to have become violent when he was remanded into custody. A court officer was assaulted in the ordeal, police said.
Additional charges are now being sought against the man.
