Driver killed, toddler hurt in crash near Aylmer

The driver of one of the two vehicles involved in a crash east of Aylmer has died from their injuries.

According to Elgin OPP, a vehicle lost control and collided with an oncoming vehicle on Heritage Line near Maple Grove Line just before noon on Thursday.

The two people inside the vehicle that lost control were taken to hospital. The 33-year-old driver from Aylmer later died from their injuries, police confirmed on Friday. The identity of that individual has not been released. A 2-year-old passenger from Aylmer had non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the other vehicle involved, a 47-year-old from Vienna, had minor injuries and was treated at the scene by paramedics.

The crash kept a section of Heritage Line closed for several hours while the OPP traffic incident management and enforcement team was on scene.

The investigation is ongoing, police said.
