90-year-old driver killed in crash near Simcoe

One person is dead and another in hospital after a two-vehicle crash north of Simcoe.

Emergency crews were called to the collision at the intersection of Highway 24 and Concession 13 Townsend just before 11:15 a.m. on Wednesday. The drivers of both vehicles were taken to hospital where one, a 90-year-old Norfolk County resident, was later pronounced dead. The other received treatment for non-life threatening injuries.

No names have been released.

The crash kept Highway 24 between Windham Road 12 and Thirteenth Street West closed for several hours. It has since reopened.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation, Norfolk OPP said.
