Motorcyclist killed in east London crash

A two-vehicle crash involving a motorcycle in east London over the weekend has claimed the life of one person.

Emergency crews were called to the collision in the area of Oxford Street East and Wethered Street around 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. Crews arrived on scene to find a motorcycle on its side and a sedan with a dent to its back driver's side door and rear-end damage.

On Monday, London police confirmed the motorcyclist had been taken to hospital where they later died from their injuries. The identity of the deceased has not been released.

The driver of the car was not hurt and remained on scene.

"The investigation is ongoing and has been turned over to our traffic management unit," said London police Acting Sergeant Sandasha Bough.

Investigators are asking anyone who was in the area between 5:20 p.m. and 5:35 p.m. and has dash-cam or security footage to call police at (519) 661-5670 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).

The intersection was closed for several hours Saturday while police were on scene and crews worked to clear debris. Police notified the public they would be flying a drone over the area as part of their investigation. The road was reopened late Saturday night.
