Knights sweep Generals to take OHL title

The London Knights are the 2024 Ontario Hockey League champions.

The team swept the Oshawa Generals with a 7-1 win Wednesday night at the Tribute Communities Centre to claim the title. It is the fifth time in franchise history the Knights have won the J. Ross Robertson Cup. They previously won the OHL championship in 2016, 2013, 2012, and 2005.

Toronto Maple Leafs prospect Easton Cowan led the way to the Game 4 win with a goal and three assists, finishing the playoffs with a league-leading 34 points. He was named OHL Playoff MVP and awarded the Wayne Gretzky 99 trophy.

Kasper Halttunen had two goals and an assist, while Denver Barkey had a goal and two assists. William Nicholl saw his first goal of the postseason, scoring in the third.

Knights' goaltender Michael Simpson stopped 25 of 26 shots during the game.

The Knights are now Memorial Cup bound. The tournament gets underway at the Dow Event Center in Saginaw, Michigan on May 24. The Knights play their first game on Saturday, May 25 against the Drummondville Voltigeurs, champions of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
