Middlesex Centre man charged with murder

A Middlesex Centre man is facing a murder charge after a sudden death at a home on Carriage Road.

According to the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police, emergency crews were called to the home around 9 a.m. on Monday, May 27. When they arrived, they found the victim deceased.

The victim's name has not yet been released.

Nicholas Russell-Ewanation, 28, of Middlesex Centre is charged with second degree murder.

Police say that while there is no threat to public safety, residents of the area near the home on Carriage Road can expect to see an increased police presence.

"The investigation remains ongoing with the support of the Middlesex County OPP Crime Unit and OPP Forensic Identification Services under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, and in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service," police said.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
