London opening three outdoor pools early

Grab your flutter boards and water wings!

Three of London's outdoor pools are opening this weekend.

The city has announced that it will welcome swimmers back for the season at Stronach, Westminster, and Oakridge pools as of Saturday. This is the first time since the pandemic that outdoor pools have been opened in June, instead of the Canada Day long weekend.

The three swimming spots will only be open on weekends to start. Then on June 29, all of the city's ten outdoor pools will be opened for use seven days a week. This includes the Glen Cairn and Silverwoods pools, which had been undergoing upgrades.

Londoners hoping to enrol in aquafit and swimming lessons at an outdoor pool can find out more about program dates on the city's website.

The opening of outdoor pools comes two weeks after the city's spray pads began operating for the season. They are available for play daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wading pools are scheduled to open by June 30. They are free to use and have a lifeguard on site for safety.
