St. Thomas native new head of London Hydro

After a three month search, London Hydro has found its new chief executive officer (CEO).

St. Thomas native Ysni Semsedini has been appointed to the position, Hydro Board Chair Connie Graham announced on Wednesday.

Semsedini has more than 20 years of experience in electricity distribution, telecom, manufacturing and healthcare and previously served as CEO of NT Power in Newmarket and Festival Hydro in Stratford. He also sits on numerous energy sector boards.

“The Board is extremely pleased with Mr. Semsedini’s appointment and looks forward to continued success through his proven visionary leadership and development of strategic solutions for multi-disciplined organization,” said Graham, who went on to describe Semsedini as a people focused results-oriented community builder.

Semsedini replaces Vinay Sharma, the utility's long-time outgoing head. Sharma announced plans to retire from London Hydro in March. He has been with the utility for 26 years, the past 15 of which were as CEO.

Semsedini's first day on the job will be August 6.
