UPDATE: Forecasters track storm in region

Strong storms are moving across southwestern Ontario once again this week.

Environment Canada began tracking a severe thunderstorm near Belmont at around 8 p.m. Friday, prompting a severe thunderstorm warning to be issued.

The warning expired a short time later, but the weather agency is still looking at a system of rain moving east from Michigan that may flare up into isolated storms.

"Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads," read the alert from Environment Canada. "Large hail can damage property and cause injury. Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees, and overturn large vehicles."
