The London Lightning dominated the second quarter of play Saturday night and held on to beat the Niagara River Lions 127-119.
The Lightning bounced back from their loss at Windsor on Wednesday night, snapping a 14-game winning streak. Saturday's contest was also London's first game at Budweiser Gardens since February 20.
Royce White led the Lightning with 22 points, shooting ten-for-24 from field-goal range. He also led the team with seven assists and was co-defensive leader with seven rebounds alongside Marvin Phillips, who added 21 points.
Other offensive producers for the Lightning included Ryan Anderson with 18 points and Joel Friesen with 15.
The River Lions did maintain a slight 35-33 lead after the first quarter, then London pulled away in the second quarter and took a 70-59 halftime lead. The game was relatively close in the second half though some key baskets in the fourth quarter helped put the game away.
Marcus Lewis led the River Lions with 20 points, including four out of five three-pointers. Tyler Murray added 18 points and Tyshawn Patterson sank 15 points. Antonio "Scoop" Jardine and Samuel Muldrow had six boards each for Niagara, while Muldrow led in assists with eight.
The Lightning travel to Mono Sunday afternoon to face the Orangeville A's.
