Knights swat Sting 7-6 in OT

The London Knights scored a 7-6 overtime victory against the Sarnia Sting on Friday.

Sarnia kicked off the game by taking a 2-0 lead in just over eight minutes of the first period, but William Lochead and Antonio Stranges both scored for London to tie the game heading into the second.

Cole Tymkin put the Knights in the lead with a goal 1:07 into the second frame, and Connor McMichael scored two back-to-back goals to extend their advantage to 5-2.  However, the Sting fought back in the latter half of the second to score twice and bring them within one goal.

Josh Nelson scored for London in early in the third, but Sarnia pushed the game into overtime by scoring two more goals of their own to tie the game at 6-6.

Liam Foudy scored the game-winner for the Knights three minutes into the extra frame.

Knights goaltender Joseph Raaymakers made 31 saves out of 37 shots on net.

The Knights will travel to Owen Sound on Saturday to take on the Attack at 7:30 p.m.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
