Jr. hockey wrap-up – March 30, 2019

The London Nationals beat the Leamington Flyers 5-2 in Game 2 on Saturday.

Max Vinogradov scored the first and only goal for the first period of the game for the Nationals.

Leamington tied it up in the second period with a goal by Rory DiNiro, followed not too long with a goal by Zach Taylor.

Vinogradov scored another goal for the Nationals just 3:23 into the third period putting the game at another tie. Riley MacRae scored two back to back goals for the Nationals followed closely by a powerplay goal by Geogre Diaco.

London goaltender Zachary Springer saved 27 out of 29 shots on net.

Game 3 is on  Sunday in Leamington.

The Lakeshore Canadiens fell to the Exeter Hawks 5-2 in Game 6 of the Western Conference Finals on Saturday.

The Canadiens started off strong  with the only goal for period one, scored by Jake Nimmo.

The Canadiens lead 2-1 after a powerplay goal by Blake Bain in the second period. Exeter's Jon Baker lessened that lead by one, when he scored at 13:20.

Baker was on a roll in the third period, scoring at just :33 and again at 9:19. Troy Kennedy scored 9:48, pushing the Canadiens lead to three points. Baker then scored again at 16:47 and winning the game for Lakeshore.

Canadiens' goaltender Erik Morneau saved 34 out of the 29 shots on net.

Game 7 Sunday night at the Atlas Tube Centre game time is 7:00 pm.
