High levels of air pollution are possible this afternoon.

An AIR QUALITY WARNING is in place due to the possibility of deteriorating air quality. Hot and sunny conditions are expected to cause increasing ground-level ozone concentrations this afternoon. Moderate risk AQHI values are expected throughout the day with the potential of short-term high risk AQHI values in the afternoon.

When air pollution levels are high, everyone should limit time outdoors. Consider reducing or rescheduling outdoor sports, activities and events.

You may experience mild and common symptoms such as eye, nose and throat irritation, headaches or a mild cough. More serious but less common symptoms include wheezing, chest pains or severe cough. If you think you are having a medical emergency, seek immediate medical assistance.

People more likely to be impacted by outdoor air pollution, including people aged 65 and older, pregnant people, infants and young children, people with an existing illness or chronic health condition, and people who work outdoors, should reduce or reschedule strenuous activities outdoors and seek medical attention if experiencing symptoms.

Lawrence MacAulay has been appointed as Canada's Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food, replacing Marie-Claude Bibeau.This marks MacAulay's second time in this role, having previously served between 2015 and 2019.The announcement was made during a swearing-in ceremony at Rideau Hall, where Prime Minister Trudeau unveiled his anticipated cabinet changes. MacAulay, a veteran minister and MP representing the riding of Cardigan in P.E.I, was first elected to the House of Commons in 1998. He has also held positions as Minister of Veterans Affairs and Associate Minister of National Defence.Bibeau will assume the role of Minister of National Revenue, and Diane Lebouthillier will inherit the post of Minister of Fisheries, Oceans, and the Canadian Coast Guard.
