Lawrence MacAulay appointed as Canada's Agriculture Minister in cabinet reshuffle

Lawrence MacAulay has been appointed as Canada's Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food, replacing Marie-Claude Bibeau.

This marks MacAulay's second time in this role, having previously served between 2015 and 2019.

The announcement was made during a swearing-in ceremony at Rideau Hall, where Prime Minister Trudeau unveiled his anticipated cabinet changes. MacAulay, a veteran minister and MP representing the riding of Cardigan in P.E.I, was first elected to the House of Commons in 1998. He has also held positions as Minister of Veterans Affairs and Associate Minister of National Defence.

Bibeau will assume the role of Minister of National Revenue, and Diane Lebouthillier will inherit the post of Minister of Fisheries, Oceans, and the Canadian Coast Guard.
