Wingham Library May Be Named After Alice Munro

The Wingham Public Library could soon have a new name.

North Huron Council has approved a recommendation that will be sent to the county library board to rename the Wingham Public Library in honor of Alice Munro.

Reeve Neil Vincent says naming the library after the Nobel prize winning author sets a great example set for youth in the area, as it shows that efforts and talents will be recognized by the community.

Vincent adds that this is a great tribute to Munro, who has said she approves of her name being used. The Reeve adds once it receives the final approval, it will be a great nod to the Wingham native.

He says. "Pretty proud of her name attached to it. As Alice Munro country basically I recognize many of the things that she has written about."
