Perth East Considers New Hwy. 7-8 Route

The Township of Perth East staff suggest a new route for the Hwy. 7-8 bypass from New Hamburg to south end of Stratford.

A report to council says that many of the municipality's concerns still exist despite many years of consultation.

The report from CAO Glen Schwendinger says the best route would follow the current alignment of Line 33 from the boundary with Wilmot, or possibly sightly east of that.

The township says the MTO's plan would consume too much agricultural land, impede the safety of first responders, and increase safe response times to emergencies. It also affects the free flow of agricultural traffic.

Township council requested more information about the plan last , and will consider the issue again in two weeks.
