Perth OPP have charged a 43-year-old Paris,Ontario woman with failing to yield after a crash on Hwy. 23 near Mitchell left an OPP cruiser "totalled."

The OPP say one of their officers was travelling on Hwy. 23 at Line 32 just before 8:30 Thursday morning, responding to a call just north of Mitchell.

As the cruiser, which had lights and siren activated, approached the intersection, a Dodge Ram pickup travelling westbound on Line 32 crossed the highway directly in front of the cruiser.   The cruiser's front-end hit the passenger side rear corner of the truck, totaling the cruiser and causing minor damage to the pickup.

The officer was sent to hospital with minor injuries, while the female driver of the truck was uninjured.
