Teen Charged After Going Twice The Speed Limit On Highway 8

A 17-year-old Stratford male will be heading to court after OPP clocked a car traveling twice the speed limit on Highway 8 by Mitchell.

Perth OPP official say they were conducting patrols along Highway 8 just after 1 a.m. on Sunday, when they observed an SUV travelling at a high rate of speed. One officer locked  the vehicle in at a speed of 169 km/h, which is 89 km/h over the 80 km/h speed limit.

Once police pulled over the vehicle, police say the driver told officers he was operating his mother’s vehicle.

The male, who is a resident of Stratford, was issued a summons for "race a motor vehicle" and is expected to appear in a Stratford courtroom on December 9th.

His drivers license was suspended for seven days and the vehicle was impounded for a week.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
