Bluewater Retains Economic Development Officer

The Municipality of Bluewater has extended the contract of its economic development officer.

CAO Gary Long explains the current contract expired at the end of October, but they found money from some OMAFRA funding the municipality had received to extend the contract until the end of April.

Long points out Mark Cassidy had initiated a number of projects and the extra six months will allow him to complete many of them.

Bluewater council was supportive of making the position permanent, but Long says that will become part of the budget discussion. Long explains council recognized that council and the municipality have benefited considerably over the last two or three years from having an economic development officer in place and agreed making it a permanent position would be advantageous moving forward.
