Stratford Represented At Queen's Park Health Rally

The co-chair of the Stratford and Area Health Coalition is concerned about privatization and declining funding of our health care system.

Roxie Baker plans to attend a rally today at Queen's Park to raise awareness of the problems with our system.

Baker says the Huron Perth Health Care Alliance's redistribution of beds means fewer beds for Stratford hospital. She says that means some people may have to travel outside the city for service, and transportation could be an issue. She adds some residents moved to Stratford specifically for the hospital services, which are now being reduced.

Alliance CEO Andrew Williams says the bed shuffle will create four viable specialized hospital sites.

A lunch hour rally at Queen's Park was organized by the Ontario Health Coalition.

A rally is also planned at St. Marys Hospital this afternoon.
