The outgoing warden of Grey County points to aboriginal issues among the top concerns future county councillors will have to deal with.
Brian Milne lost his bid for re-election as mayor of Southgate, making him ineligible to sit on county council.
In his closing address as warden, Milne says First Nations' issues in Grey County are legitimate and must be recognized and dealt with.
"The First Nations people have treaty rights and they have land claims. Different bands have different issues and needs in the county and we need them to be addressed. We need them to be recognized if nothing else," he says.
Milne says economic development in Grey County will drive almost all decisions future councillors will make.
Milne wouldn't say yes or no as to whether he'll re-enter the political arena at some point in the future, but he left open the possibility.
