MacLean's Ales Opens In Hanover

Hanover is the home of one of Ontario's newest craft beer makers.

MacLean's Ales cut the ribbon on their facility and gave tours to local dignitaries on Friday.

Brewmaster Charles Maclean started the enterprise at his farm near Ayton. After that co-owner Curtis Schmalz came on board and the brewery went up in Hanover's industrial park.

Schmalz says they pride themselves on using local ingredients. He adds craft beers are more popular than ever.

"The craft beer market is on a very huge upswing. Five years ago there were maybe five to ten craft breweries in Ontario. As of today there's +90."

The company is up and running with five MacLean's Ale brands available in liquor stores. They also have retail sales at the brewery on 14th Ave. in Hanover.
