Huron Perth Catholic School Board Chair Returns

A retired high school teacher with more than 25 years experience as a trustee is back as chair of the Huron-Perth Catholic District School Board.

Bernard Murray was elected to the position at the board's inaugural meeting in Dublin. His experience as a trustee dates back to 1986 with the former Huron-Perth County Roman Catholic Separate School Board.

This is his eighth term as chair of the board. Murray represents the areas of Perth South, St. Marys and West Perth.

Mike Miller, also an experienced trustee with the board, was acclaimed to the position of vice-chair.

"I look forward to working with my fellow trustees as we assist administration and staff in delivering 21st century quality education to the students who come to our schools." says Murray. "The goal is to develop the academic, physical,and spiritual potential of each student under our care while making efficient use of the available resources."

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
