Minto's Mayor Focuses On Economic Development

Minto Mayor George Bridge told the inaugural meeting of council that a high priority for the next term of council is economic development.

He also assured the public he plans to continue to offer a visible and open council. Communicating with the public will be a challenge to ensure the public knows what’s going on in the municipality.

He also wants to take advantage of federal-provincial infrastructure funding to rebuild aging infrastructure.

"We’re prepared. We’ve got all the studies done and now we get ready to make some changes out there and get some of the infrastructure fixed," says Bridge.

CAO Bill White praised the results of amalgamation, which dates back 15 years, saying Minto has "prospered" as an amalgamated municipality. He also thanked two outgoing members of council, Rick Hembly and Terry Fisk, for their dedicated work for Minto.
