Copper Wire Stolen From Southgate Landfill

It's not often that police get a report of a break-in at a landfill site, but that's what happened in Grey County.

The Township of Southgate reported the overnight break-in at it's landfill site on Southgate Side Rd. 41. Someone forcibly entered the site and broke in to a number of storage units.

Between 300-400 lbs of scrap copper wire was stolen. The OPP say the stolen copper is taken to recyclers or scrap metal dealers in exchange for cash.

This is the second break-in at the site in Southgate since August.

Residents are asked to report any suspicious persons, vehicles and or activities to police.
