Toronto Driver Charged In Perth County Crash

Perth County OPP have charged a hunter from Toronto after a single-vehicle crash last evening on Line 86, west of Molesworth.

Shortly after 6:30pm, officers were dispatched after a report of a vehicle the ditch and found a pickup truck on its side in the north ditch along Perth Line 86, but no driver. Officers did find two shotguns in the snow beside the truck.

More than an hour later, the owner and driver of the truck contacted police from a residence in Listowel and then went to the North Perth OPP Detachment in Listowel.

He was not injured in the crash.

The 56-year-old Toronto man has been charged with careless use of firearm in contravention of storage regulations and failing to remain at the scene of an accident.

Police remind firearms owners that when transporting non-restricted firearms, they must be unloaded. Restricted and prohibited firearms must be unloaded and made inoperable with a secure locking device and locked in a sturdy opaque container. The bolt or bolt carrier must be removed from automatic firearms if it is removable.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
