Horses Perish In Georgian Bluffs Barn Fire

Seventeen horses died in a barn fire in northern Grey County.

The Inter-Township Fire Department, with the assistance of the Chatsworth and Wiarton Fire Departments, responded to the fire around 4:30pm yesterday on Concession 2 in the Township of Georgian Bluffs.

The owner of the farm was plowing the driveway when he noticed the fire and called 911. He was taken to hospital by ambulance for smoke inhalation and later released.

Two quarter horses and 15 mini horses died in the fire. The barn was destroyed. The Inter-Township Fire Department continues to investigate the cause.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
