North Perth Wants Municipalities To Have a Say in Wind Energy

North Perth wants municipalities to have the power to give the go-ahead to future wind energy projects.

The Ontario Power Authority is currently asking for feedback on its new renewable energy plan.

North Perth council voted in-favour of suggesting the plan include a 'municipal support resolution - meaning all projects approved by the OPA would also need approval from the municipality where the project is located

OPA 's looking for feedback from municipalities up until December 19th.

"We expect this will be a common ask by municipalities ." North Perth CAO Kriss Snell tells CKNX News, "A lot of municipalities have suggested that a municipality has to be a willing host to have a wind energy project."
