Straford Hospital ER Wait Times Reduced

The Huron-Perth Healthcare Alliance has been able to reduce wait times at the ER in Stratford by working with St. Thomas-Elgin Hospital.

C-E-O Andrew Williams explains that St. Thomas-Elgin has had very good wait times and has shared the experience with the LHIN to help other hospitals.

Williams says in the Stratford ER in the last year, wait times for patients being admitted have been reduced by 28 per cent. The time line for getting patients to a bed has been cut by 41 per cent.

Williams points out patient flow has become a critical issue for hospitals throughout the province. That starts with bringing the right patient to the right hospital; getting them to right bed for the right amount of time; and moving them through the hospital once their needs have been addressed.
